Moving to a New Home can be difficult & daunting.

No matter how excited you are about moving into your new place, the first few weeks are going to be unorganised and frazzled. The best way to cope with this is to make your new house feel like a home as soon as possible. We have created a tips and tricks to help you get settled when moving in.

Prioritise the kids’ rooms.

Setting your kids up is extremely important, because it gives them a sense of belonging. While this will be time consuming it will also help the kids settle in and feel like they are home. This will mean less nagging and more time to unpack or relax, depending on your preference. Moving to your new home should be a pleasant experience which you want your kids to enjoy and be a part of, get them involved.

Wait to hang art

While you are still unpacking, things are not necessarily placed in their final position. This is why we recommend that you unpack your art, and then lean it against the wall of your choice while you finish the rest of the house. Hanging art should be done last.

Get into your regular routine.

As soon as you have moved to your new house, try your best to get into your routine. Whether its waking up on a Sunday morning to egg and bacon rolls or bathing and getting into bed by a certain time. Get into your routine, because it will be your saving grace when it comes to making your new house a home.

Make it cozy

Setting up your bedroom is an absolute must. There is nothing better than climbing into a fresh clean cozy bed after a long days work. We aren’t saying you should setup your entire bedroom, but your bed is number 1 on the priority list.

Make it smell nice.

There is nothing better than surprising your senses. So its recommended that you burn some incense, cook a nice juicy steak in the kitchen or even place some air fresheners around the house.

Don’t order takeout

It’s understandable that after a long day of moving and unpacking, the last thing you want to do is cook food. But it’s the best thing for you to do if you want to settle in quickly. Even if you are living among boxes, eating a simple home cooked recipe on the floor is so worth it.
